How the Bakerloo Line got its name

The Bakerloo line was opened in March of 1906 as the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway. After just a few months, the name was officially changed to what had been a nickname dubbed by the Evening News, "Bakerloo," which was much quicker and easier to say.

Did you know that the longest escalator in a tube station is at Angel Station?

Also, the deepest lift (elevator) shaft on the Tube network is at Hampstead - it goes up 181 feet. And, did you know that the two rails on each track that are suspended on ceramic insulators are live electrical tracks? The inside one runs -210v and the outside one +420, so you're better off not touching them.
